Our workshops cover similar topics and content as our seminars, but are longer and spend a significant amount of time on hands-on practice, mock situations and interactive lessons, as well as focussing on improving the specific weaknesses of individual participants. All workshops can be custom-tailored to meet the needs of companies or other groups.

Professional Correspondence

Whether for work or for personal reasons, from time to time most people need to send a formal email or letter in English. Participants in this two-part workshop will learn the basic phrases needed for writing professional English correspondence for any kind of situation.

The workshop includes:

  • the most common phrases used in business correspondence
  • writing enquiries, negotiating, arranging a meeting, complaints and more
  • differences between formal, semi-formal and informal language
  • official EU standard format and punctuation
  • common mistakes made by Slovene learners

CVs & covering letters

Applying for a job abroad or at an international company in Slovenia? If so, you'll likely need to submit both a Europass CV and a covering letter with your application. In this two-part workshop you'll learn the basics of how to prepare (and how not to prepare) both documents professionally and formally.

The workshop includes:

  • overview of the official Europass CV format
  • detailed tips and instructions preparing your own CV
  • explanation of standard covering letters
  • common mistakes made with covering letters
  • overview of formal business English phrases for covering letters
  • preparation and correction of personal CVs and covering letters

Presentations

If you’ve got an important presentation coming up on a business trip abroad or would just like to gain confidence in your ability to present in English, our presentation workshops quickly and efficiently cover everything you need to know in the shortest time possible. All participants will also have the chance to give a mock presentation on video, with their performance evaluated by the instructors and discussed by the group.

The workshop includes:

  • overview of general presentation techniques
  • set terms and phrases for presentations in English (ie ‘signposting’ language)
  • tips for improving clarity when presenting to other non-English speakers
  • recorded presentation practice with review and discussion of performance
  • common mistakes made by Slovene learners

Business Meetings

While we generally dislike clichés, the saying that you only have one chance to make a good first impression is an objectively a true statement. And if that first impression is at a meeting with a potential client or partner, then you’re ability to clearly express yourself, and do so in the most appropriate tone, may be the difference between doing or not doing business. Our short workshops on the basics of business meetings will cover everything you need to know to ensure that you make a good first impression.

  • leading a meeting
  • sounding polite while negotiating
  • mock meeting practice in a variety of different situations

Academic English

In recent years there has been a notable increase in the number of foreign students in Slovenia, as well as the university courses that are being offered in English. While most professors and lecturers are well versed in the vocabulary and topics that are specific to their fields, many could still benefit from additional practice giving lectures or leading courses in English under the watchful eyes of our experienced instructors. Our workshops are designed to provide significant improvement in the shortest amount of time by focussing on the weaknesses of individual participants.
